European Technical Approval (ETA)
The European Technical Approval (ETA), for a particular construction product is the positive technical assessment that is given for its fitness for a defined use. It is issued on the basis of the compliance of this product with the six essential requirements, as it is outlined in the ‘’Construction Products Directive’’ and in particular for the construction-fitting work in which the product is used.
In most of the cases, the approval of a product is provided to the manufacturer on the basis of the assessment principles, pointed out into the ETA guidelines for the relevant products sector. When it is issued by the ETA, it is valid in all the countries of the European Economic Area for a period of five years, with a possibility to be renewed after that.
